Roger A. Freeman was a noted aero-historian whose specialist subject was the 8th Air Force operations during Word War II. He wrote what is considered the definitive popular history book entitled the ‘Mighty Eighth’ and contributed to many documentaries and films about the Eighth and even acted as technical adviser to David Puttnam’s film Memphis Belle.
Freeman was closely involved in the development of the American Air Museum at the Imperial War Museum’s site at Duxford airfield. His photographic collection of the activities of the Eighth consists of over 23,000 prints and slides. These fascinating photographs are held within the museum's archives.
Max has been commissioned to digitise 3,000 important images and to re-house them into archival quality sleeves and binders.
