Metadata Creation

Digitisation is changing the way archives can catalogue large amounts of content. Instead of creating a full catalogue before digitisation, as has been previous practice, assigning a unique identifier to each digital object, and matching up existing metadata allows the use of our browser based metadata harvesting tool Themis. Digital objects can then be presented to clients, our on or off shore cataloguing teams or even registered volunteers.

Many hands make light work, and Max have comprehensively catalogued over 2 million items for 2 major projects in the last 4 years; tasks originally estimated by our clients as 20 year projects using catalogue first and digitise after methodology.

Testimonials

Max Communications and the RSA Archive have a successful, long standing working relationship. We have undertaken several digitisation projects together to scan our numerous large sized artworks, prints and diagrams. More recently we successfully migrated to Max’s archive management and digital preservation services, DRYAD and SOTERIA. I cannot fault either the consistent quality of the digitisation or the quality of professional service provided and would recommend, Max Communications, without reservation.
