London South Bank University, based in Elephant and Castle, was founded in 1892 as The Borough Polytechnic and became a university in 1992. With over 17,000 students the university teaches across seven schools at its Southwark Campus.

Ruth MacLeod is Data Curator and Archivist working with research teams and academics, as well as looking after the University's historic collections. Highlights of the archive include records of the public subscription that founded the institution, historic prospectuses and their unusual courses, architectural models for the campus, vintage nurses' cloaks, teaching material from adult literacy campaigns, and London's cold war preparations for nuclear Armageddon. Ruth discusses relationships with the local community, the opportunities for raising the archive's profile that a new location will provide and documenting current student voices for the future.
