Dryad Portfolio

Dryad is our hosted archival catalogue platform built on AtoM (Access to Memory), originally commissioned by the International Council on Archives to promote ISAD(g).

It provides a standards-based environment for managing archival descriptions, digital objects, authority records, and hierarchical collections ranging from single items to complex multi-level fonds structures.

Dryad combines the flexibility of AtoM with managed hosting, support, training, custom development, and optional discovery tools designed to improve public access to collections.

Core Features of Dryad

Standards-based archival description: Supports ISAD(G), ISAAR(CPF), Dublin Core and flexible hierarchical cataloguing structures.

Digital object management: Link and display images, PDFs, audiovisual material, born-digital content and preservation derivatives.

Open and extensible: CSV import/export, APIs, integrations and custom development options.

Hosted and managed: Fully managed UK hosting, updates, backups, monitoring and ongoing support.

Preservation integrations: Compatible with systems including:

  • Archivematica
  • Preservica
  • Soteria+

Discovery Layer

Alongside the core catalogue, Dryad can be paired with a modern public discovery layer built using our WordPress plug-in or directly into the AtoM API.

This provides a more flexible and visually engaging public interface while retaining AtoM as the archival management backend.

The discovery layer can operate as:

  • A standalone public website
  • A branded archive portal
  • A search experience embedded within an existing organisation website

Using our WordPress integration plugin, the discovery layer can:

  • Search AtoM collections
  • Aggregate results from multiple systems e.g. Library, Museum and collections systems.
  • Display featured collections and exhibitions
  • Provide enhanced browsing and storytelling features
  • Integrate with institutional branding and CMS content
